Most Commonly Used Offenses:

ICE Offense

| Continunity | Basic Reads | Variations & Specials | Defense |

The ICE offense is an all out basket attack. Using the term "ICE" makes your opponent think that you are going to hold the ball, but in reality your attacking the basket on every cut. In addition to protecting a lead at the end of game, ICE can be used very effectively to counter severe defensive pressure. When an opponent is applying so much defensive pressure it is difficult to get into an offense, ICE can save the day with it's constant back cuts against defensive over play.

Basic Continunity:

O2 walks defender to free throw line and then breaks out. Ball handler O1 passes to O2 and makes a "Give & Go" cut to the basket as O3 walks defender to free throw line. O2 looks to feed O1 on basket cut. If O1 does not receive a pass, O1 then clears out to opposite side corner and O2 looks to pass to O3 breaking out.

When O2 passes to O3, O2 makes a "Give & Go" cut to the basket as O4 walks defender to free throw line. O3 looks to feed O2 on basket cut. If O2 is not open, O2 then clears out to opposite side corner and O3 looks to pass to O4 breaking out.

The basic "Give & Go" action continues with O3 passing to O4 breaking out and cutting to the basket.

NOTE: Cutters should expect to receive pass late near basket.

Basic reads and Counters:
Players create leads by walking their defender to the free throw line and then reacts according to how the defender is playing them.

Pop: When the defender plays low to basket side, take low and break high (pop out).

Back Cut: When the defender plays on the high side and denies the passing lane, take high and break low (back cut) to the basket.

Back Cut: When the defender chases out and denies the passing lane, receiver makes a hard back cut to the basket. Do NOT fight defensive pressure. Receivers on back cuts clear out to same side corner when they do not receive a pass.

Drive: Upon receiving the pass, receivers should immediately assume a "Triple Threat" position with head and eyes up. When the defender stands erect with straight legs or overplays to one side, ball handler has green light to drive to the basket.

Give & Go Cut: When the defender overplays to the inside trying to disrupt the passing lane, ball handler has option to pass to the wing on the same side of the court and make a "Give & Go" cut to the basket.

Variations & Specials:
It is very important to create a good shot as the shot clock winds down. Ice can readily flow directly into a variety of quick hitting plays according to player personnel.
